My favorite BBBSLI memory was meeting Bre for the first time and knowing she was the perfect match for me! From the minute we met, we have been instantly connected and have never had an issue of not bonding or growing together!
BBBSLI has made me want to be a better person. It has made me appreciate family and has given me the gift of parenting that I was never afforded.
What I love most about my Little Breanna is that she is so incredibly smart, kind, caring, open and loving!!! I connect with her every day and it makes her feel like the most important person in the world! I value our relationship and appreciate that we are making a difference in each other’s lives!
My favorite BBBSLI event that Bre and I attended was Cooking with Chef Keith! It was interactive and there were many interesting matches to meet.
Bre and I work on her communication, as she is so bright, however, she speaks very quickly. So we have focused on her trying to slow down and be more deliberate in her
delivery. She is finishing both 11th and 12th grade in 1 year and looking to pursue college a year early. We are looking at college applications and scholarships.
A special moment/milestone was Bre’s Sweet 16 this year, which was an incredible day for her at her temple. She gave wonderful speeches in which she included me as part of the candle lighting ceremony as one of her SPECIAL people – I was truly honored.
I would encourage others to get involved because for me, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island has been the most fulfilling experience and meaningful volunteer work I’ve
ever been involved in. Being matched with Breanna has forever changed my life! I have always wanted to be a Big Sister and I kept postponing it and my only regret is not doing this sooner!
