Become a BIG (Mentor)

• BBBSLI matches children (Littles) in 2nd–11th grade with caring adult mentors (Bigs) in one-to-one, life-changing friendships. As a Big, you show up consistently for a child who looks up to you and benefits from your time, encouragement, and support.

  Bigs and Littles spend time together 2–3 times per month for a few hours, doing simple, everyday activities—like seeing a movie, playing games, grabbing a bite to eat, exploring local events, or just hanging out and talking. These shared moments help build trust, confidence, and connection, and often become the highlight of a Little’s week.

  You don’t need special skills or experience to be a Big—just a willingness to listen, have fun, and be a positive role model. BBBSLI provides training, ongoing support, and guidance every step of the way to ensure both Bigs and Littles have a safe, successful, and rewarding experience. By becoming a Big, you’re helping a child realize their potential—and you may be surprised by how much the experience changes your life, too.

Host a Lunch & Learn

• A Lunch & Learn is a FREE opportunity for you and your coworkers to enjoy a casual lunch at your office while learning about our mission and the many different ways you can get involved.
• Presentations can be tailored from 10 minutes to 1 hour, virtual or in-person to suit the needs of your event.
• We’ll talk about volunteer opportunities and how mentorship positively impacts the Long Island community.

Become a Match Maker

• Match Makers are dedicated monthly donors who make it possible for new Matches to be created every month. Your ongoing support helps fund meaningful outings and one-of-a-kind experiences that are both educational and fun — creating lasting memories and lifelong impact for our Matches.

Host a Drive

• BBBSLI runs year-round drives, and we’re always in need of generous supporters to help us collect essential items for the children and families we serve. We welcome a variety of drives throughout the year, including the following:
• Clothing Drive for gently used or new items
• Back-to-School Drive to provide students with essential school supplies
• Holiday toy & gift card drives to support our Holiday for Kids’ Sake program which brings joy to our BBBSLI families during the holiday season
• Winter Accessory Drives (coats, hats, gloves)

Sponsor an Event

• We offer a wide range of sponsorship opportunities throughout the year that allow individuals and businesses to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable visibility in the community. From our signature annual events—such as the Golf Outing and Fashion Show—to many other engaging and mission-driven gatherings, there’s a sponsorship level to suit every interest and budget.

Become A Match Activity Sponsor

BBBSLI Match Activities allow our Bigs (mentors) and Littles (mentees) to connect, build trust, and make lasting memories in a fun, supportive group setting. These activities are hosted several times each month and are free of cost for our Bigs and Littles. Matches come together to enjoy engaging experiences such as games, creative projects, outdoor adventures, and community outings—all designed to strengthen their relationship while trying something new side by side. Match Activities provide a safe, welcoming environment where friendships grow and mentorship thrives!

Ways to Get Involved:

• Activity or Venue Host
  Open your space or provide an experience for our matches—such as a bowling alley, mini golf course, museum, sports facility, or creative studio.
• Financial Sponsor / Donation
  Support Match Activities through a financial contribution that helps cover supplies, admission, and food.
• Underwrite a Match Activity
  Fully sponsor the cost of a specific activity, such as mini golf, bowling, a sporting event, or another group outing, ensuring Bigs and Littles can participate at no cost.
