Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island kicks off its new partnership with the Long Island Coalition Against Bullying (LICAB) for a collaborative and synergistic partnership to further support our youth.
LICAB’s mission is to emphasize the importance of bully free communities on Long Island through education, increased awareness, and therapeutic outlets. While BBBSLI’s mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
“Bullying is an unfortunate reality of life for far too many children. Youth who have a big brother or a big sister are less likely to bully or be bullied. LICAB anti-bullying programs, as proven to be effective at supporting victims of bullying and educating schools and the community on this issue. Combining the collective power of LICAB’s supportive and educational services with BBBSLI preventive one-to-one mentoring programs is an innovative pathway to preventing bullying and improving academic, behavioral, and mental health outcomes among children and youth on Long Island.
.” Said BBBSLI Director of Programs, Fabiola Turner.
“Partnering with other youth-based organizations is key to reaching even more children who may be in need. The partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island is a special one because it not only brings our educational resources to more youth who may be experiencing bullying related impacts, but also because it allows for a greater nurturing of the mentor relationship which is so key for a child’s success.” Said
LICAB Founder & Executive Director, Joe Salamone.
