Kathleen Courtney

Chair

Kathleen Courtney is a Foundation Center certified researcher and grants developer. She is Chairwoman Emeritus of the Riverhead Industrial Development Agency, and prior to her retirement, led the office of Regional Grants Services at Eastern Suffolk BOCES, supervising a $38 million budget representing federal, State, corporate and member-item funding.

Ms. Courtney resides in Aquebogue, on the North Fork of Long Island where she is involved in the development of the Manna Ocean Foundation, a research institute dedicated to offshore mariculture.

Praveen Anumolu

Praveen Anumolu is Director of Engineering Services for ASR International Corporation, a worldwide management and technical support services company. From 2004 through 2016, he previously served as a volunteer big in the organization. Mr. Anumolu is a graduate of Cornell University with degrees in Geological Sciences and Electrical and Computer Engineering. He lives in Smithtown with his family and stays active in the local community.

Michael Capilets

Michael Capilets is a Managing Director at SVAM International, Inc. responsible for strategic planning, market segment identification and evaluation, business strategy development and client negotiations. Additionally, he has overall responsibility for Marketing and Sales. Since joining SVAM in 2003, he and his team have significantly increased sales revenues making SVAM one of the fastest growing entities on the Island. He also serves as a leadership coach and mentor to high potential associates in SVAM’s Mentoring Program. Mr. Capilets joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 2015 and resides in Smithtown with his wife Barbara and his son Michael Jr.

Stephen Cohen

Stephen Cohen is President of Cohen, Hoenigmann & Badolato, CPA’s PC. He joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 2001. Having graduated from the CW Post School of Professional Accountancy, Mr. Cohen is a member of both the AICPA and NYS CPA society. He resides in Dix Hills with his wife, Patti, and has two grown children, David and Elizabeth.

Dan Greenburg

After selling one of the ‘500 Fastest Growing Companies in the United States’, according to Inc. 500, in 2002, Dan Greenburg is currently a semi-retired consultant helping businesses get to the next level. Mr. Greenburg joined the Big Brothers Big Sister Board of Directors in 2006. He graduated from Lehigh University and earned a law degree in 1974. Mr. Greenburg resides in Merrick.

Richard Grossi

Treasurer

Richard Grossi is the Chief Executive Officer at OpenLink, the global leader in trading, treasury and risk management solutions for the energy, commodities, corporate and financial services industries serving over 600 clients with over 38,000 users worldwide.  Headquartered in Long Island, with offices around the world, OpenLink provides mission critical software to large Financial Services, Energy, Utilities and Diversified Corporations handling their trading, logistics, risk management and treasury needs. As CEO of OpenLink, Rich is responsible for leading day-to-day management and implementing and executing the company’s operational goals and long term strategy. Mr. Grossi joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 2014 and resides in Melville with his wife and two children.

Scott Horowitz

Scott M. Horowitz is the President of Shore Line Insurance Agency, Inc. Mr. Horowitz is the chairman and founder of the Hamptons Offshore Invitational fishing tournament to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island and served as the President of the Shinnecock Marlin and Tuna Club for 10 years. He earned his BA at Southampton College and is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain. Mr. Horowitz is currently an elected official serving as a Trustee for the Town of Southampton. Mr. Horowitz is also a graduate of the Suffolk County Police Academy. He resides in East Quogue with his wife, Pamela, and his two field-bred English Cockers, Lexi and Bracken.

Liz Meyers

Secretary

Liz Meyers is the Executive Vice President of Purchasing and Global Sourcing for Darby Dental Supply, LLC. She is responsible for domestic and international product sourcing, SKU optimization, inventory management, analyzing demand and buy-in opportunities, and maintaining vendor relations.

Michael Paley

Vice Chair

Michael Paley is a travel agent at Pro Travel International. Mr. Paley joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 1984, and previously served as Chairman of the Board. He earned a B.A from Boston University in Business Administration and resides in Malverne with his wife Kathi.

Regina Schilling

Regina Schilling is the Office Manager for Steve Madden, Ltd. She joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 2012. Ms. Schilling graduated with a BA from Molloy College and is an active participant in events run by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). She resides in West Islip with her husband, John.

Jeffrey Schwartzberg

Jeff Schwartzberg is President of Premier Commercial RE. He joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors in 2003. Mr. Schwartzberg holds an MBA in Financial Management from Iona College and a Bachelors degree from Queens College. He now serves as the Village Mayor of the Village of Roslyn Estates, where he lives with his wife, two sons and Dachshund, Puma.

Thomas Slome

Thomas Slome is a Partner at Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, LLP, a general practice law firm. Mr. Slome joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 2012. He received a B.A in Economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School. Mr. Slome resides in Rockville Centre with his wife and children.

Kelly Stanley

Kelly Stanley is a therapist at Long Island Behavioral Medicine, P.C. located in Islandia and Long Island Mind & Body, P.C. located in Garden City. She joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 2014. Having graduated from Hofstra University with an MBA and Fordham University with a Master of Social Work, Ms. Stanley is an LMSW, a member of the NASW and a Crisis Counselor at the Long Island Crisis Center. She resides in Rockville Centre with her husband, Michael, and has two grown children, Ryan and Kara.

John Talotta

John Talotta is a retired executive having spent more than 30 years with financial and international companies. Mr. Talotta became a Big Brother in 1973 and joined the Board of Directors in 1979. He is a graduate of Lehigh University with a degree in Business Administration and resides in Sea Cliff with his wife Dorothy.

Vic Verola

Mr. Verola is Executive Vice President and Partner of Vicom Computer Services,Inc., responsible for overseeing the entire customer facing operation including Sales, Engineering, Support and Professional Services. A 25 plus year veteran of the Information Technology industry, he has worked in various positions in IT engineering and sales. Mr. Verola continues to lead the transformation of Vicom into one of the most progressive solution providers in the New York Metropolitan area.

E. David Woycik, Jr., Esq.

David Woycik is a partner of the law firm of Sanders, Sanders, Block, Woycik, Viener & Grossman, P.C. located in Mineola, New York. He joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Board of Directors in 1995. Mr. Woycik received both his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977 and Juris Doctorate degree in 1980 from Hofstra University. Mr. Woycik is married to Carolyn Sanchez from Los Angeles and they reside in Garden City, New York.
